Day Game Workshop + The Voodoo Dildo Joke

"I’m a believer that connecting with a sober girl who looks good in the light is a wonderful thing." -Roosh V

The Voodoo Dildo Joke

There was once this married couple who loved each other very much, but due to the man's job he was gone for days... sometimes weeks at a time. He knew his wife was lonely and he wished that he could do something for her while he was gone.

One day, while walking down a street after one of his many business trips, he happened by a gypsy shop. While browsing through the old woman's shelves of potions and totems, he noticed a large dildo sitting in the back. He asked the old woman, "What is this dildo doing here?"

The old woman smiled. "That is no ordinary dildo. That is a voodoo dildo!"

The old woman explained to the man that the dildo was possessed by the spirit of a legendary lover and told him that the dildo would obey any sexual command that was said to it.

The man thought it would be the perfect gift for his lonely wife and purchased it. The gypsy wrote down the instructions for the voodoo dildo on a card and the man took it home with him.

When the man got home, he waiting until he was about to go on another trip before presenting his wife with his present. He explained what it was and showed her the card about how to use it. He kissed her good-bye and left knowing that his wife would be taken care of while he was gone.

After a day or two, the wife was very lonely and decided to give the gift a try. She undressed, took the voodoo dildo out of its box, and looked at the card. She then said the magic words... "Voodoo Dildo my pussy!"

The Voodoo Dildo went to work and pleasured the woman for hours and hours. After a while, she couldn't take anymore and reached for the instruction card to see how to get her present to stop. In her haste, however, she knocked the card off the bed and it drifted into the fireplace. The woman watched in horror as the card burned to ashes.

The woman tried several commands: "Stop! Cease! Quit! Abort!" but nothing would stop the voodoo dildo. Thankfully, the address of the gypsy woman was on the box the dildo had come in and, after throwing on some clothing, the woman got in the car and sped away.

She was a few miles down the highway when she was pulled over by a highway patrol officer. She sat uncomfortably as the arrogant and self-important officer told her that he pulled her over for speeding. The officer asked her why she was going so fast.

The woman explained the entire story to the officer trying to convey the urgency of her situation. The officer rolled his eyes at the fantastic tale obviously not believing a word of it.

After the woman was finished, the officer took off his shades, looked her square in the eye, and said... "Voodoo Dildo my ass!"

Music, Poetry, Sarah & Wasilla

My musical tastes are all over the place. While I tend to be a big softie who likes stuff like this:

The Beatles: Til There Was You
Skeeter Davis: The End of the World

I also like alternative rock, folk, bluegrass and '60's stuff:

Squeeze: Is That Love
Just Grass: Rose Conley (Down in the Willow Garden)
Kate Wolf: Legend in his Time
Kate Wolf: Medicine Wheel
The Grass Roots: Temptation Eyes
The Grass Roots: Midnight Confessions

One of the reasons I think Quentin Tarantino's movies have done so well is that - while he he has eclectic musical tastes like a lot of us - he apparently knows a wider range of really cool songs! His movie soundtracks are great:

Nancy Sinatra: My Baby Shot Me Down
Meiko Kaji: Flower of Carnage
Chingon: Malaguena Salerosa
Shivaree: Goodnight Moon

And you're right - this guy is very funny-
Cledus T. Judd: Bake Me A Country Ham

As to poetry, I've considered my "favorite poem" to be "Sunday Morning" by Wallace Stevens since college. I hadn't read it in a while - so I just re-read it. It is beautifully written ... but it's a little heavy!

Here's a blog I don't update often. But it's a good place to save (and double-check) links. Hmm - apparently this blogger is a Sarah Palin fan!

Place of Meeting: Need to Find Out - Please E-Mail Me - Thanks

Here's the information I was to provide for tonight's SPIN Team meeting:

1. The special event applications for DC are available below.

See here and here.

I'm not sure which is the right form yet. We'd need to check with:

Metropolitan Police Department
Specials Activities Office
300 Indiana Ave., NW, 6th Floor
Washington, DC 20001
202-671-6511

We'll need to know a proposed date, the proposed route, and the other information requested in the forms.

Their web site is here. Their frequently asked questions are here.

2. The schedule for the U.S. Senate is below.

The current calendar of the U.S. Senate is here.

It doesn't go past December 2008. The new Senate calendar won't be ready until the next Senate is convened.

When the next Senate will be convened is not clear from the website of the Secretary of the Senate.

In all likelihood, no schedule will be prepared until the Senate convenes and a new Majority Leader is chosen.

SPIN Meeting Invitation

I'll be in the chat room at Sarah Palin for President tonight at 8pm Eastern Time for the regularly scheduled chat.

At 9pm Eastern Time, I'll leave our group chat window up, but will open a separate window to chat in the meeting of the SPIN Team on PalTalk.

If you are on this e-mail, you are welcome to come with me to the SPIN Team meeting. (The meeting is run by Savant Noir. This is the meeting that Shari - correctly - says is a bit like "Dungeons and Dragons').

Everyone in the meeting is nice, though. Like a lot of people, the main speakers can be a tad over-serious at times, that's all. Anyway, if you go to the SPIN Team meeting, just keep a low profile and follow my lead. I basically just keep quiet and act dumb. This is my approach to most live situations.

To go to the SPIN Team meeting at 9pm Eastern Time tonight go here. The password is: sarah2012

You should go there at least 30 minutes early if it's your first time because there is PalTalk software to download. It's not too bad - but it'll take you a few minutes to do that and get set up (like Chatango - but with a bit more to do).

Palin strikes back at critics
Dan Joling - Associated Press Writer - 11/8/2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Gov. Sarah Palin denounced anonymous criticisms leveled at her by former John McCain aides as lies, including allegations that Republican lawyers were traveling to Alaska to reclaim her high-priced wardrobe and that she didn't know Africa was a continent.

"Those accounts are not true," the former Republican vice presidential candidate said in her first public comments on the matter since the election Tuesday.

Palin returned Friday to her Anchorage governor's office and said she had no immediate plans to build on her newfound national name-recognition and popularity with the Republican base for a possible 2012 presidential run.

Instead, Palin said, she wanted only to get back to the governor's desk to advance a proposed pipeline tapping Alaska's vast North Slope natural gas reserves and to prepare Alaska's proposed 2010 budget.

As for the vice presidential campaign, Palin denounced criticism from unidentified McCain campaign aides as "cowardly." She said she found it frustrating trying to respond to false allegations when she didn't know who was making them.

"It's ridiculous," she told reporters. "You guys report based on anonymous sources, so it's hard to have a defense."

One report said she and her family went on a shopping spree, spending more than the $150,000 in clothing that the Republican National Committee had earlier reported.

"The RNC purchased clothes," Palin said.

"Those are the RNC's clothes. They're not my clothes. I never forced anybody to buy anything. I never asked for anything more than maybe a Diet Dr Pepper once in a while."

The RNC will inventory clothing it purchased for her to account for dollars spent, she said. She scoffed at reports that the RNC was sending lawyers to take back clothes from her home.

"It's not happening. Nobody's told me that they're coming to my house to look through closets, to look through anything. The belly of the plane that had clothes in it, and those clothes being packed up and sent back by staffers, perhaps that's what they're talking about, but these aren't attorneys."

She said she wasn't angry at the continued coverage of her clothing, but mostly disappointed.

"This is Barack Obama's time right now, and this is an historic moment in our nation and this can be a shining moment for America and our history, and look what we're talking about. Again, we're talking about my shoes and belts and skirts. It's ridiculous."

She also denied a report that she didn't know Africa was a continent, not a country, and that she didn't know the members of the North American Free Trade Agreement _ the United States, Canada and Mexico. She remembered discussing both Africa and Obama's stance on NAFTA with people preparing her for her debate, she said. Anything reported as a gaffe was taken out of context, she said.

"That's cruel. It's mean-spirited. It's immature. It's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news. It's not fair and it's not right."

Asked if she felt muzzled by her limited time with reporters during the campaign, Palin said the media is a cornerstone of democracy and an important part of the checks and balances on government.

"Heaven forbid that a candidate or an elected official shy way from speaking to the media," she said. "So it was a little bit of a frustration that I didn't get to call more of those shots, and I guess that was sort of the 'rogue' criticism was, 'She wants to talk to more of the media' than perhaps some in the campaign wanted me to."

Palin backed off from calling for the resignation of fellow Alaskan Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican in Senate history. Stevens leads Democrat Mark Begich by about 3,500 votes with more than 50,000 to be counted.

A Washington jury convicted Stevens on Oct. 27 of seven felony counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in gifts, mostly renovations on his home. Stevens is appealing the verdict.

"The Alaska voters have spoken and me not being a dictator won't be telling anyone what to do," she said.

Fellow senators have indicated they could boot Stevens.

"That's their baby," Palin said. "They'll have to figure out what to do there."

Palin said she was not interested in running for the job if it comes open.

"Not planning on that. Nope," she said.

* * *

Indeed, campaign staffers who would speak on the record said that the recent criticisms of Gov. Palin were false. Steve Biegun, the former Bush National Security Council aid - who briefed Sarah Palin on foreign policy - considers the leaks against her on the international stuff "absurd." Biegun indicated that the recent false attacks on Palin indicated to him that "somebody is acting with a high degree of maliciousness."

And, by the way, I remember Senator McCain - when he was a Presidential candidate - dissuading those who tried to criticize Barack Obama about his ties to race-baiting preacher Jeremiah Wright. Where is Senator McCain now to denounce those criticizing Gov. Palin - and call for them to stop the false smears?

Obama was born at Coast Hospital in Kenya. He is not a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution. UPDATE: SOUTER REFUSES STAY OF ELECTION

Via ObamaCrimes.com: Barack Obama was born in Kenya - not the United States - his family admits. He was later naturalized as "Barack Soetoro" in Indonesia. He is not a “natural born” U.S. citizen as required for the Presidency by the U.S. Constitution.

Although Barack Obama claims he was born in Hawaii, he has never disclosed which hospital he was born in - and he has never produced a birth certificate.

Apparently, Barack Obama's real name is "Barry Soetoro," as it was listed on his school records in Indonesia - which records also listed his religion as "Islam."

Barack Obama's school record from Indonesia lists his name as 'Barry Soetoro,' his citizenship as 'Indonesian,' and his religion as 'Islam'Barack Obama's school record from Indonesia lists his name as 'Barry Soetoro,' his citizenship as 'Indonesian,' and his religion as 'Islam.' For more, see TimesHerald.com and Snopes.com.

Here's a copy of the Certificate of Live Birth posted by the Obama campaign. They've refused to disclose the name of the hospital where Obama was born.

And see the relevant State of Hawaii regulations here:

[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.

(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.

(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, §1]

In other words, Barack's mother could have obtained the above "Certificate of Life Birth" even if Barack was born outside of the United States (e.g., in Kenya). Via PowerLine News Forum.

Indeed, it appears that Barack was born at Coast Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya - located in Coast Province.

Here's a copy of the lawsuit which challenged Barack Obama's eligibility to be President of the United States. Here's an Adobe Acrobat copy of the First Amended Complaint in the matter of Philip J. Berg, Esquire v. Barack Hussein Obama, et al., U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Civil Action No. 08-CV-4083 (The Honorable R. Barclay Surrick, United States District Court Judge).

The above lawsuit was dismissed at the U.S. District Court level - but an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals is being pursued. It was not dismissed on the merits at the District Court level (Obama refused to ever produce an actual birth certificate showing a hospital in Hawaii). Rather, the matter was dismissed at the District Court level for lack of "standing." The District Court ruled that Mr. Berg did not have standing to challenge Obama's qualifications for the Presidency - even though Berg is an American citizen. Apparently the only one with standing would have been another candidate for President, like McCain. One would have thought that each of us - as American citizens - would have the right to expect our President (and our Presidential candidates) to meet the minimal qualifications of U.S. Constitution. If we don't have the right to enforce those qualifications then they are, for all intents and purposes, meaningless.

Here's information on The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and here's information on U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick.

Here are the Google search results for this subject.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin swept into Northern Virginia this morning to fire up GOP voters in the battleground state eight days before the presidential election, making the case that a Republican in the White House would lead to lower taxes and an economic comeback.

"Our opponent is not being candid with you all about his tax plan," Palin said, adding: "Senator Obama has an ideological commitment to higher taxes. . . . "Barack Obama is on the side of bigger, more controlling government and higher taxes."

Same Platform: Democratic Party of Obama and Biden and the Communist Party USA

The Democratic Party of Obama and Biden has largely the same platform as the Communist Party USA
The Democratic Party of Obama and Biden has largely the same platform as the Communist Party USA.

Go see for your self.

Here's the platform of the Democratic Party of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

And here's the platform of the Communist Party USA.

They look like they came out of the same organization, don't they?

That's not surprising. Barack Obama sought the endorsement of the far Left New Party in Illinois:

* * *

Obama began seeking the New Party endorsement in 1995. He had been running in a four way primary against his former boss, Senator Alice Palmer, herself a far left radical, and two other individuals. But an election law quirk gave Obama the upper hand. In order to get on the ballot, candidates had to collect signatures of voters. Printed names were not allowed. Obama challenged the petitions of his rivals and was able to get every one of them thrown off the ballot. By the time the ballot was drawn up for the 1996 election, Obama’s was the only name in the race.

Nonetheless, Obama still coveted the New Party endorsement. The New Party required candidates who received the endorsement sign a pledge of support for the party. Obama did not need to support a party that was, in effect, a front group for communists; yet he still chose to. The July issue of the New Ground noted that 15% of the New Party consisted of Democratic Socialists of America members and a good number of Committee of Correspondence members.

Barack Obama, not needing to, chose to affiliate himself with this band of quasi-communists. As the nation moves closer to the election, it is clear that Obama chose to affiliate with assorted anti-American radicals. Machiavelli once noted that we can know a leader by the people he surrounds himself with. What does that say about Barack Obama, who chose to surround himself with people committed to overthrowing the United States and capitalism?

Joe Biden & his long, repeated history of plagiarism, dishonesty

Joe Biden & his long history of plagiarism, dishonesty
Joe Biden has had a long, repeated, and unapologetic history of plagiarism and dishonesty

In 1987, while Joe Biden was Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee - and while he was conducting hearings on Robert Bork's nomination to the Supreme Court - Biden was also out on the campaign trail for President, plagiarizing others in speech after speech. From the New York Times, September 17, 1987:

* * *

As generations of teachers keep saying, plagiarism is theft. Considering their content, the Biden speeches sound like grand larceny. For instance, in a California speech last February, Senator Biden adopted almost word for word what Robert Kennedy said in 1968 about the gross national product: ''It doesn't measure the beauty of our poetry, the strength of our marriages, the intelligence of our public debates, the integrity of our public officials.'' ..... Lifting that language trashes the very values he was urging.

What makes Senator Biden's behavior mystifying is recklessness. It's one thing to misappropriate someone else's words. It's another to take passages so clearly someone else's that you're likely to get caught. That's true of the Kennedy quotes and even more so of the Senator's abundant lifts of highly personal thoughts about ancestry from Neil Kinnock, the British Labor Party leader. It's a bit like Gary Hart inviting reporters to follow him even as he was seeing women other than his wife - a bit like daring people to catch you.

The misappropriations are troubling for another reason. Hackneyed political oratory gives voters one measure. But Mr. Biden claims to be a candidate with something to say and asks to be measured by that standard. By passing off the words of Neil Kinnock or Robert Kennedy or Hubert Humphrey as his own he deprives voters of his thoughts and his words. His message, counterfeit, clanks.

* * *

Apparently, Joe can't help himself. This is a lifelong habit - and apparently he can't kick it. In 1965, as a first year law student at Syracuse University, Biden narrowly avoided expulsion for plagiarism. Again, via the New York Times, September 17, 1987:

* * *

Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., a Democratic Presidential candidate, was accused of plagiarism while in his first year at Syracuse University Law School, academic officials familiar with Mr. Biden's record said today.

Mr. Biden, who as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee is presiding over the hearings on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Robert H. Bork, has called a news conference for 9 A.M. Thursday to discuss this charge and reports that he has lifted material from speeches by other politicians to use in his public addresses.

A Biden aide, who asked not to be identified, declined to comment on the plagiarism charge, saying Mr. Biden wanted to discuss it himself. ''It's his life,'' the aide said.

According to the people familiar with the record of the 44-year-old Senator from Delaware, he was called before the disciplinary body at the law school during his first year because of charges that he had committed plagiarism on a paper. Mr. Biden entered the school in 1965 and graduated in 1968.

CBS News tonight quoted an aide to Mr. Biden as saying he had been exonerated. However, an academic official said Mr. Biden had been found guilty, ''threw himself on the mercy of the board'' and promised not to repeat the offense. This, according to the official, persuaded the board to drop the matter and allow Mr. Biden to remain in law school. Mr. Biden's office declined to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case, saying the Senator had insisted on handling the matter himself at the news conference.

One academic official said Mr. Biden asked for and obtained his law school records several weeks ago and requested then that the school not distribute them until he had had a chance to examine their contents.

* * *

Biden has had a lifelong history of plagiarism and dishonesty - apparently with little to no consequences. Suppose Governor Sarah Palin had the above history? It would be on the front page of every newspaper - and lead every nightly newscast - for the duration of the election cycle. The mainstream press would have made it her middle name: "Governor Sarah Palin, who has admitted to plagiarism during law school and prior campaigns, tonight said that..." When the mainstream press have discussed Joe Biden this election cycle, have you ever heard them even mention his long history of plagiarism?

Examples of media bias are too many to keep track of these days. But the mainstream media's complete amnesia about Joe Biden's lifelong history of plagiarism and dishonesty has to be one of the more stunning examples of media bias this election cycle.

More here.

If the mainstream media were smart, they'd ask Democrats a lot more tough questions. Democrats - used to their cozy relationship with the press - can't handle tough questions.

Glenn Reynolds' post here started me thinking about the struggle - from many different quarters - to define Governor Sarah Palin. Often, when I've heard people talking about Palin, they leave out (or perhaps are unaware of) some fundamental facts.

Palin has the same foreign policy experience now that Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton each had when they became President - i.e., not just Vice President.

Anyway, the whole "foreign policy experience" argument (if you can call it that) is a red-herring from the Left which, sadly, too many people fall for.

What, exactly is the "foreign policy experience" of Obama? Sitting in a room with a bunch of blowhards in the Senate - listening to speeches? Most of us have listened to foreign policy speeches over the years. Does that mean we have foreign policy experience to be President? To me, Obama's foreign policy experience (listening to Senate speech-making) is largely negative foreign policy experience. He's never had to make any foreign policy decision - or any decision as an executive - under pressure.

And Joe Biden's been wrong on every important foreign policy issue for the past 30 years. If Joe had had his we way: (1) we'd still be working on good relations with the USSR, (2) we'd have done none of our space technology research (i.e., "star wars") and China and other countries would be ahead of us in that field, (3) we would have broken up Iraq into 3 countries, (4) we would never have kicked Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait, and (5) Saddam Hussein would still be murdering Kurds by the tens of thousands, torturing families, and running rape rooms.

Biden has a ton of foreign policy experience. All bad.

And Joe dropped out of the 1988 presidential race due to plagiarism. And he admitted he committed plagiarism during law school. Funny how we never hear about this from the press these days. (Suppose Governor Palin had ever committed plagiarism. Do you think the press would say something about it?)

The experience that matters is actual executive experience in an actual executive position - to have been tested, and excelled, under pressure as a leader.

Neither Obama nor Biden have any executive experience. Most of us would probably be reluctant to apply for a supervisory job if we had no prior supervisory experience on our resumes. Yet, Obama and Biden are applying to lead the 1.8 million-strong federal workforce ... and lead the world's sole superpower ... and neither has any executive experience. Isn't that ... crazy? Neither has ever run a business. Neither has ever met a payroll. Neither has been a governor. Neither has been a mayor. Neither has ever had a real job. (Working as a Constitutional law professor - i.e., like Obama - doesn't provide, shall we say, lots of "real world" employment experiences). In short, both of these guys are professional politicians. That's exactly the kind of candidate we shouldn't want running anything. They have pretty much zero gut-level experience with the day-to-day issues us working stiffs have to deal with.

Although ... Obama does have some executive experience - if you want to call it that - running the Chicago Annenberg Challenge fund into the ground (with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers). They dumped $110 million in grant money into that black hole to "improve education" in Chicago. Results? Zilch. (Neither test scores nor any other metric improved). So Obama's sole executive experience, if you can call it that, was a big negative. (He poured lots of others peoples' money down a black hole. Get ready for a lot more of that if he's elected.)

That may be why both Obama and the Annenberg Foundation are blocking access to the records of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

Tellingly, Obama seems to have misplaced his Illinois State Senate papers too.

There seems to be a pattern here. Obama seems to be saying: just listen to what "The One" says he will do in the future - don't look at the records of what he's done in the past. Anyway - he won't let you look at his records. This is a problem that pervades his career and his life.

Besides, would you associate with, or run any kind of organization, with Bill Ayers? Would you launch your political career in the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn - after you knew who they were and what they'd done? I wouldn't. That shows poor judgment on Obama's part - and the placing of political opportunism over principle.

At least McCain has military command experience which should count as executive and/or leadership experience.

Governor Palin is the only one in the race with actual executive experience. She's been both a governor AND a mayor. And when she had an executive position she (unlike Obama) produced positive results - cutting taxes in Alaska, fighting corruption, and increasing competition among the energy companies for the gas pipeline. Her job approval rating in Alaska has stayed at or above 80%! She's a true leader - with true executive experience.

And she's actually run - and worked in - a fishing business with her husband. She's had to help meet payroll. She's worked a blue-collar job and has had to worry about meeting the household's bills on a couple of blue-collar salaries. She's pulled herself up "by her bootstraps" - her parents worked at an elementary school.

As Governor of Alaska, and as Mayor of Wasilla, she's had to make actual decisions with actual consequences. (She could never vote "present" - as Obama frequently did in the Illinois state legislature). She actually fought corruption on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission ("AOGCC") and as Governor. She's made tough calls - she didn't just "coast" as Governor - and still she has an 80%+ approval rating. That's remarkable. She's been the most popular governor in the whole country for some time - while fighting corruption and oil monopolies in Alaska. This is amazing stuff.

To become Governor of Alaska, Palin defeated the sitting Republican (!) Governor of Alaska in the primary. She then defeated a former Democratic Governor of Alaska in the general election. This is an amazing story. She did all this as the mother of 4 (now 5) kids, who'd been a small-town mayor and city councilwoman, who'd worked-in and helped run her family's fishing business. This is a true Horatio Alger story.

But taking on corruption in her own party was nothing new. She resigned as the Ethics Commissioner on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission ("AOGCC") in protest over the "lack of ethics" of the other Republican members. After resigning, she filed a formal complaint against Republican AOGCC Commissioner Randy Ruedrich - who was also at that time the Chairman of the State Republican Party! She protested his use of his public office for party business - and his working too closely with a company he was supposed to be regulating.

(If only someone like Sarah had been in D.C. when Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank were taking campaign contributions from Fannie Mae - while endorsing its disastrous guarantees of high-risk mortgages. Palin would probably have exposed these corrupt politicians - like she did in Alaska - and saved our nation from having to undertake a $700 million bailout of the American financial system!)

Palin also joined with Democratic legislator Eric Croft to file a complaint against Gregg Renkes, a former Republican Alaska Attorney General, accusing him of having a conflict of interest while he was negotiating a state coal export agreement.

Due to Palin's efforts in the above two cases - against members of her own Party - both Ruedrich and Renkes resigned. Ruedrich had to pay a record $12,000 fine.

For more on these remarkable stories, see here and here.

Going back to foreign policy: who has been the best foreign policy President of the past generation? Ronald Reagan, I'd say. And Palin has exactly the same amount of foreign policy experience now that Ronald Reagan had when he became President - not Vice President - which is the office that Palin is seeking.

So, explain to me (and the mainstream press) again - why is Palin is a negative?

Explain to me (and the mainstream press) why does McCain's pick of Palin shows "poor judgment"?

The ability of the Left to "prepare the battlefield" is truly amazing. (Obsequious regurgitation of the Left's talking points by the mainstream press, of course, helps).

The Left says Palin is a negative because of "lack of foreign policy experience" and "inexperience" generally. Then the Left says McCain's pick of Palin shows "poor judgment." And people just parrot this silly stuff - despite all of the above. (When Bill Clinton was running for President, do you remember the Left - or the mainstream press - bemoaning his "lack of foreign policy experience"?)

Once you think about it, the double-standard in the mainstream press for Republican candidates (e.g., Sarah Palin - a Governor with no "foreign policy experience" per the mainstream press) and Democratic candidates (e.g., Bill Clinton, who had the same amount of "foreign policy experience" as Palin when he became President - not Vice President) is pretty stark isn't it?

The Left's spin tends to be pretty obvious and sophomoric - so I'm amazed that so many people fall for it.

From my point of view, Palin is a tested executive (and principled conservative) like Reagan. She's the only one in the race with actual executive experience.

Having been both a Governor AND a Mayor is a positive - not a negative! Don't fall for the spin!

There's a reason why so many of our Presidents have been former governors. That's the perfect executive experience to prepare someone for the Presidency. (Indeed, that's what Reagan said). (And, very importantly, having been a governor gives a candidate a true, gut-level sense of the primary, sovereign role of the States in our federal constitution; so they know one-size-fits-all solutions out of D.C. are often a very bad thing).

Based on the above, Palin has more positives than McCain, Obama and Biden combined.

Thank goodness Mccain had the good judgment to pick Palin. (Consider the first major decision these two Presidential candidates made: McCain picked Palin - with all the good attributes listed above - and Obama picked Biden: a two-time admitted plagiarist, with zero executive experience, who's been wrong on every major foreign policy matter for the past 30 years).

Obama showed extremely poor judgment in picking Biden - just like he showed extremely poor judgment in running the Chicago Annenberg Challenge into the ground, and just like he showed extremely poor judgment in associating with people like Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn and Jeremiah Wright. Obama has spent much of his adult life choosing political opportunism over principle.

Governor Palin's record, accomplishments, and history of good judgment in difficult situations, are far superior to Obama's and Biden's. And Palin is our Vice Presidential candidate. McCain-Palin is the superior ticket by far.

Emergency Food Kit. 275 Servings. Weather Proof Bucket.

Emergency Food Kit - 275 ServingsAvailable at COSTCO: Emergency Food Kit. 275 Servings. Weather Proof Bucket.

I've decided to simplify my grocery shopping - and just eat this.

Note how the ad says: "Due to overwhelming response, this item will be delivered in 10-15 business days."

Was there some end-times memo that I missed? If the rapture occurs, how will all of us people left in DC even find out? It's not like any of our friends will go missing.

The bucket might come-in handy too.

Here's a copy of the Certificate of Live Birth posted by the Obama campaign. They've refused to disclose the name of the hospital where Obama was born.

And see the relevant State of Hawaii regulations here:

In other words, Barack's mother could have obtained the above "Certificate of Life Birth" even if Barack was born outside of the United States (e.g., in Kenya). Via PowerLine News Forum.

Indeed, it appears that Barack was born at Coast Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya - located in Coast Province.

Avast, me hearties! "Bile" from "Puntland" says we're to blame for the Somalis' "booty."

You've got to love any reporter who can combine "Bile," "Puntland" and "booty" in one action-packed article.

Apparently these, er, terms come together frequently in the wacky, pirate-infested waters off the coast of Somalia:

"World powers have neglected Somalia for years on end, and now its problems are touching the world..." said Bile Mohamoud Qabowsade, adviser to the president of Puntland, the semi-autonomous Somali region that is the pirates' base.

* * *

Somalia's pirates have become bolder, more heavily armed and more sophisticated as they have raked in millions in ransoms from shipping companies and possibly governments unwilling to risk fatalities.

The booty has paid for global positioning systems, satellite telephones and weapons, including 20 mm cannons, Brown said.

* * *

In the meantime, the international momentum is being driven by the growing flotilla off Somalia.

India says it is sending warships, and South Korea is considering dispatching vessels. Russia has sent a missile frigate.

A NATO flotilla of seven ships — destroyers from the U.S. and Italy, frigates from Germany, Greece, Turkey and Britain — is also headed in. NATO says its priority will be escorting World Food Program ships that deliver basic rations for 3 million hungry Somalis.

Trying to help "hungry Somalis." Isn't that how Bill Clinton and Les Aspin got a bunch of our soldiers killed during the Battle of Mogadishu - the subject of Black Hawk Down?

Anyway, why should we listen to a guy named "Bile" from "Puntland" who says we're to blame for the Somalis' "booty"?

Doesn't he know that Talk Like a Pirate Day has come and gone?

McCain and Palin energize voters in Virginia Beach

Palin in Va. BeachU.S. Republican vice presidential nominee Governor Sarah Palin greets supporters at a rally in Virginia Beach on October 13, 2008. Via Yahoo News (Reuters/Carlos Barria).

From a reader at The Corner:

* * *

Just returned from the McCain-Palin rally in Virginia Beach. It was packed full of folks who wanted to scream their heads off for Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin. And by packed full, I mean that I sat in traffic for an hour and then stood in line for 45 minutes. Folks behind McCain were there at 3 am, I was told.

Palin made a few remarks about anger being turned to action, listing the things folks are angry with. Standard stuff, until the last one: Voter fraud! The crowd ate it up. Also, she pronounced Norfolk as Nor-fork which a lot of folks from other parts of the country tend to do.

McCain was on his message, though not everyone in the crowd was wild about his plan to buy up bad mortgages.

I came out of the rally feeling like it will be a close race here in VA, despite what's on the news.

The reader may be right. The race appears to be tightening.

The History of Red States and Blue States

map of 1984 Presidential electionIn this map from the 1984 Presidential election, blue represented the incumbent (Ronald Reagan of the Republican Party) and red represented the challenger (Walter Mondale of the Democratic Party). This use of blue for the incumbent party and red for the challenging party was typical in electoral maps prior to the 2000 election. Via PresidentElect.org.

A recent post by Professor David G. Post at The Volokh Conspiracy started me thinking of "red states" and "blue states."

This is my memory: prior to the 2000 election, in newscasts, newspapers and all other media that I saw, blue was the color of the incumbent Party for the Presidency and red was the color of the challenging Party.

My memory of the above standard usage: blue = incumbent Party for the Presidency, red = challenger Party for the Presidency ... goes back to the early 1970's.

Thus, in the 2000 election, the Democrats (and Al Gore) were signified by blue on maps (since Bill Clinton and the Democrats were the incumbent Party holding the Presidency). The Republicans and George W. Bush were signified by red because they were the challenging Party for the Presidency.

By contrast, in 1992 Bill Clinton and the Democrats were signified by red whereas George H.W. Bush and the Republicans were signified by blue.

Then, with all the tumult around that 2000 Presidential election - and the resulting debates about the series of red-blue maps (on both the state and county level) - many people began to associate red with Republican and blue with Democrat generally.

The Democratic Party wisely ran with this.

The Republican Party foolishly did not push back against this.

It is helpful to the Democratic Party to be signified as blue and not red because:

(1) blue is a relatively calming, safe color,

(2) red is easily associated with "reds" as in communists or socialists - which strikes a bit close to home for many Democratic policies (when you get a moment sometime read the positions of the Democratic Party and then go read the positions of the Communist Party USA - you will be surprised at the many similarities), and

(3) painting the Republicans with red makes them a kind of permanent insurgent, radical party - since red is a relatively radical, aggressive, angry color (i.e., one "sees red").

The Republican Party (and conservative commentators and media) should use the traditional standard of blue = incumbent Party for the Presidency, red = challenging Party for the Presidency - which existed prior to the 2000 election.

Why they haven't - and why there's never even been an intelligent discussion of this topic (thanks for your post - it's the first I've seen anywhere on this) is a real mystery to me.

If we must forever associate each party with a color, however, the Republican Party (and conservative writers and commentators) would be foolish not to always associate the Democratic Party with the color red.

"Reds" historically referred to communists. See, e.g., here.

And the official positions of the Democratic Party and the Communist Party USA are strikingly similar. See the agenda of the Democratic Party here. Now go look at the agenda of the Communist Party USA here.

Along these lines, the Communist Party USA's glowing praise of Barack Obama is telling.

I've looked around (just a little googling) for some evidence of my strong memory of the traditional color code for maps in American Presidential elections, i.e., challenging party = red, incumbent party = blue.

So far I've come up with:

1. here (see comment 17),

2. here, and

3. here.

About the demosthenes weblog: from warblogger to Palin blogger

Governor Palin in Englwood, Colorado on Saturday, October 4, 2008On Saturday, Oct. 4 in Englewood, Colorado, Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin criticized Senator Barack Obama for 'palling around' with domestic terrorist Williams Ayers. Via Yahoo News (AP Photo/Pool, R. J. Sangosti).

On Saturday, October 4, 2008, Governor Sarah Palin rightly (and gently) criticized Senator Barack Obama for "palling around" with unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. Yet Associated Press writer Douglass K. Daniel quickly wrote an article saying such (accurate) criticism of Barack Obama "was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext" - neither of which is true.

It is by no means racist - or unsubstantiated - to to criticize Obama's long, close personal and working relationship with domestic terrorist William Ayers.

So - apparently - the mainstream press is again acting as the public affairs department of the Obama campaign. Certainly Douglass K. Daniel's article - which forthrightly seeks to chill any criticism of Obama's relationship with Ayers - does not represent the objective, independent, fair role of the mainstream media (or the Associated Press) which they purport to serve.

So I feel compelled to blog again.

I am the warblogger formerly known as nikita demosthenes.

Many of us warbloggers left the battlefield of the blogosphere after the Iraq war had begun. Now many of us are returning due to our admiration for Governor Sarah Palin. And many of us are returning due to our distaste for the mainstream media's negative bias in coverage of Governor Palin (and positive bias in coverage of Senator Obama). Douglass K. Daniel's article from October 5, 2008 is a textbook, and particularly egregious, example of this phenomenon.

So call me - and the many like me who have returned to the fray based on the above - Palin bloggers.

For more on Douglass K. Daniel's dishonest article on Palin see Investor's Business Daily and Instapundit. Apparently, Douglass K. Daniel - who supposedly does objective reporting for the Associated Press - has a history of this kind of bias.
